Ben Janike | Head Coach

CrosffFit Level 2 Trainer

As a former student from Minnesota State University, Mankato, Ben has been part of the fitness industry for over ten years and part of the CrossFit Community for five years. He holds a bachelors degree in Human Performance from Minnesota State University, Mankato. His aim is to help as many people as possible reach their fitness goals. CrossFit has been the best avenue to point people in the right direction when they are serious about achieving their goals.

Chris is an exercise enthusiast in every sense of the word. He was a former collegiate rugby player. Chris found CrossFit just like most CrossFitters, he found an interesting workout affectionately known as “Fran”, attempted it, and was left gasping for air. He knew he struck gold. Chris is always looking to expand the CrossFit community.

Joe Bakker | Assistant Coach

Joe became interested in CrossFit while watching the 2012 CrossFit Games on TV. That’s when he found Ben and Kato CrossFit where he became an intern and instantly got hooked on CrossFit and the community that belongs to it. Joe as a degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Sports Medicine and Coaching. He is currently a Fitness Instructor for the South Dakota National Guard.

Josh loves sports and staying physically active. Josh grew up playing football, basketball and baseball and has also been involved in karate, swimming and snowboarding. In college Josh was a member of the Minnesota State University, Mankato Rugby team. He continues to try new sports and activities to keep himself active. Josh’s passion about fitness and nutrition helps him encourage people to make positive lifestyle choices. Josh’s goal as a coach is to ensure people have the correct form to get the most out of every workout.

Slater Powell | Assistant Coach

CrossFit Level 1 Trainer

Slater is a senior at Minnesota State University, Mankato. He plans to graduate this december with a degree in Exercise Science. As an athlete, Slater ran track and field and competed in sprints and hurdles. He was raised in a small town in Montana so he really enjoys the community aspect of CrossFit and the excitement that comes along with it. With a strong background in kineseology and Biomechanics, Slater is here to help anyone who is wanting to reach their fitness, health or wellness goals.

Dano Lotz | Assistant Coach

Dano grew up playing baseball and basketball.

When Dano was 12, he was put in leg braces and told that he wasn’t allowed to be active. At age 16, Dano found strength and conditioning along with Olympic Weightlifting. Now, 8 years later Dano trains people on how to become the strongest version of themselves.

Anne Kittok | Assistant Coach

CrossFit Level 1 Trainer

Anne graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science.  She is currently working towards her Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Minnesota. From High School sports to college is where Anne found another way to compete in CrossFit. She found a passion in teaching others a healthy way of living. Her favorite part of coaching is teaching people the foundation movements for the very first time and watching people grow throughout their fitness journey.

Jess Stensland | Assistant Coach & Administrative Assistant/HR

CrossFit Level 1 Trainer

Jessica is currently working on her Master’s in Education with an emphasis in Physics and Mathematics. She has been doing CrossFit since August of 2012 and just this year became a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer. Right now, Jess is coaching World’s Best BootCamp of Southern MN and the occasional CrossFit Lite class.

Alyssa Rothmeier | Assistant Coach

Alyssa graduated from MSU: Mankato with a degree in Exercise Science and Sports Medicine. She currently coaches our World’s Best Bootcamp classes. She’s also a personal trainer, coaches 3rd-8th grade boys’ fitness and running program, and a group fitness class instructor! Alyssa loves working with people that are new to fitness to show them how fun exercise can be!
